Choi Gug-Hwan

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the current trends of certification renewal and continuing education services with a Korean sample of vocational rehabilitation professionals working in rehabilitation settings and to provide suggestions for the effective continuing education and certification renewal as a way to meet the needs of the qualified professionals. A total of the 144 vocational rehabilitation professionals participated in this study and among them the certified social workers were the most dominant as a single certification group. The results indicated that while having the professional certification tended to be considered helpful in initiating his/her professional roles and functions in the designated work settings, the job satisfaction rating of the group seemed to be placed a little below the satisfaction category. And the continuing educations provided by the Korean Society of Vocational Rehabilitation tended to be rated somewhat below the boundary of the satisfaction category. The educational satisfaction ratings by the types of vocational rehabilitation institutions, the reasons for dissatisfaction upon the educational training services, the amount of training needs, etc were also included in the analysis. The results and the implications of the study were discussed.
